Jesus Freaks Commentary 1

(Within the “” is a direct excerpt from Jesus Freaks.)

“She was 17 years old. He stood glaring at her, his weapon before her face. ‘Do you believe in God?’ She paused. It was a life or death question. ‘Yes, I believe in God.’ ‘Why?’ asked her executioner. But he never gave her the chance to respond. The teen-aged girl lay dead at his feet.”

This scene could have happened in the Roman coliseum. It could have happened in the Middle Ages. And it could have happened in any number of countries around the world today. People are being imprisoned, tortured, and killed every day because they refuse to deny the name of Jesus.

This particular story, though did not happen in ancient times, nor in Vietnam, Pakistan, or Romania. It happened at Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado, on April 20 1999. Do you believe in Jesus?”

Our ignorance of thinking that we live in a country where these things, these monstrosities don’t occur is an ill-conceived frame of mind.  Every hour and possibly every minute a life is taken for obedient loyalty to God, the only silver-lining is knowing that these people who were martyred for believing in God when approached with death is knowing that they are undoubtedly in Heaven with God right now as your reading this article.

Even though, from a worldly perspective, we base everything on this life, the true life starts after we die, so from a spiritual death on this world is insignificant.  However,  it is the way that these tragedies affect our human emotions and inspire us to be better.  Hopefully thier act of believing while faced with death doesn’t go in vain. We must live our lives in such ways that are holy in the eyes of God.

This young woman only age 17, not even old enough to get a credit card, stood her ground and put her faith in God, and I say this: She is in heaven now, and if she isn’t how then could anyone on this earth ?
